There are no designated snowshoe trails so visitors are welcome to explore off trail but must not hike on groomed ski trails and avoid streams and areas with moving water.
Hartley Park has 5K of classic groomed ski trails maintained by the City of Duluth. Typically when there is 6" or more of snow, the trails will be groomed once a week. Updated trail conditions can be found at these links: skinnyski.com and The Duluth XC Ski Club. Skiing on the groomed ski trails does require a Great MN Ski Pass available through the MN DNR. Ski passes can be purchased online, over the phone or at local DNR license selling facilities. (Hartley Nature Center does not sell ski passes)
Hartley Nature Center RENTS both cross country ski packages and snowshoes for people of all ages. More information can be found on our website rental page. Rentals are available, when snow conditions allow, Monday-Friday 9am-4pm, Saturdays 10am-4pm and Sundays 12-5pm.
