Beaver Flooding

1918 Allandale Farm Fields -

As you can see, there is no standing water in the highlighted area before beaver flooding.

1981 Beaver Pond -

After the farm was abandoned, beavers created a dam at the east end of Tischer Creek which flooded the former farmland and resulted in a large pond.

1991 Receeding Beaver Pond -

As you can see, after ten years the Beaver Pond has receeded.

1995 Developing Wet Meadow -

A few years later there is very little open water left and a wet meadow is beginning to take hold in the area.

2005 Wet Meadow -

By 2005, Tischer Creek still moves through the area, but there is nothing that resembles the Beaver Pond that existed only twenty years before.

2008 Wet Meadow -

In 2008, beavers constructed a new dam, pond, and lodge in the area.
