Early Childhood Programs

We have a great and growing selection of outdoor engagement options for you and your pre-schooler. Whether it's a day camp, weekly story-based program, or even a special event, we have something we are sure you and your little one will love.

nature nook Mondays

Ages 2-5 with parent/guardian

Our weekly get-together that includes reading a nature themed book, making a craft and taking a short hike. Meet here at 10am and be sure both of you are prepared for the weather. Runs 90 minutes every Monday. See the Nature Nook schedule for upcoming books.

Cost: $5 for members, $8 for non-members


nature Play Group Tuesdays

Ages 0-5 with parent/guardian

This weekly drop-in program meets at 10am in the Hartley Nature Playscape area. It is facilitated by a Hartley educator with a welcoming circle then is openly structured allowing children to explore within the elements (including water) as they choose. (only cancels for extreme weather). Runs 90 minutes every Tuesday, June through August.

Cost: $2/ participating child

day camps

Join the fun as Hartley now offers camps for the tiny set too. Our pre-school camps offer a more in-depth look into the mysteries of the natural world. Offered winter and summer, they provide age-approporiate activities and fun. Our next camp opportunity will begin December 26, 2016. More information can be found on our Day Camp page.



Howl-O-Ween returns for its eleventh year of (not very) spooky critter hikes, goodies, games, and of course lots of treats. More than 400 people joined us for 2016. We have two sessions to accomodate even more little goblins. You can choose to join us from either 10:00 am to noon or 1-3 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017. The cost is just $20 per household. You MUST preregister for this event! Call us at 724-6735 to get signed up.
