Wee Wanderers
Wee Wanderers camps will take our preschool-aged campers further into the wild with expanded opportunities to create, explore and learn. Campers and parents will immerse themselves in one fascinating theme for the entire camp, inspiring wonder and allowing for in-depth, hands-on fun. Forest Nymphs
Spend your week searching for the small, secretive creatures of the forest… crawl on the forest floor in search of salamanders, tromp in the swamp for polliwogs, peak under mushrooms for fairies. Mountain bikers across Duluth already know what you will learn- this park is awesome for biking! We'll learn safety and basic technique before hitting the designated bike trails, then get out there to experience the hills, valleys, bridges and puddles. Each day will also include nature study and team games. *All campers must bring their own bike and helmet each day of camp.MB2-For campers with a year or more of trail riding experience.

Hook, Line and Sinker
After mastering fishing equipment, skills and techniques, we will hit the water of Hartley Park in search of trout, sunfish and bass. Campers will explore the ponds and streams of Hartley by foot and by canoe. And once we have mastered Hartley, we will spend Friday at Wild Rice Lake in search of bigger fish.

Woodworking for Wildlife
Release your inner carpenter as we use materials right from Hartley Park to craft and create unique woodworking projects. From trees harvested right here on site we'll fashion a variety of wildlife friendly projects including nesting boxes, bird feeders and more. Learn tree identification to find the best wood for your projects as well as an introduction to basic carpentry skills. Bring home your very own piece of Hartley Park this summer!

What's that in the sky? Where do robins go in the winter? This camp is all about birds. From hummingbirds to hawk beaks and talons, birds are some of the coolest animals on the planet. We will watch, call, play and learn what it takes to live like a bird.

Water Engineering
How does a beaver build such an effective dam? Why do rivers move sideways? We will explore both of these questions and more as we dig into learning about water and how it changes the landscape. Boys in Boats!
Having honed their basic fishing skills on-site, this full-day camp will go a-field, affording campers the opportunity to fish a few of the area's finest lakes and rivers. Highlights will include adventures on Wild Rice Lake and a two day, one night trip to a northern lake. Campers will experience setting up a fishing campsite, cooking over a fire and all skills needed to lead future expeditions.

Girls in the Outdoors!
Join us for a camp designed just for girls! We'll explore both the science and art sides of nature while learning new skills too. Together we'll spend our time hiking, undertaking science investigations, canoeing, creating art projects and venturing out on field trips to hike the Superior Hiking Trail, pick rocks along Lake Superior shore and more. We'll put our new skills to the test when we cook our own camp dinner, have a campfire and campout in Hartley's building Thursday night. Camp runs Mon-Thurs with Thurs overnight; campers will be ready for pick-up 9am Friday morning. Think nature, exploration and new friends!

We'll spend our afternoons learning about nocturnal animals and astronomy. Energy Explosion!
Vrrrooooommmm! Rev up to learn the basics of solar power, then study acceleration, velocity and mechanical advantage as campers build their own solar car. The climax of the camp includes the Solar Sprint car race. Learn about alternative sources of energy through activities and demonstrations, including solar, wind and hydropower.

Is UWC coming to your neighborhood? UWC meets at a different local park each week, where we explore wild places and find perfect spots to play games, swim, catch critters, eat berries and edible plants, set up tarps, build forts, safely build fires, cook meals, search for cool rocks, skip rocks, hang out, fish and have a good time together. Each location offers a unique set of opportunities and each person brings ideas and inspiration. One day each week includes a special featured activity.
