Internships

Our interns work among a friendly, dynamic staff that is dedicated to carrying out Hartley Nature Center’s mission of inspiring lifelong connections with nature through education, play and exploration. As the area’s only urban nature center, Hartley Nature Center is situated within a beautiful 660 acre city park and serves over 25,000 people annually, including over 10,000 youth through summer camps, school group field trips, public programs and more. Environmental Education Internship

Depending on the season we will have two to twelve interns on staff teaching as part of our Environmental Education program. EE Interns spend a lot of their time teaching campers, school groups and the public. In addition to the teaching, interns will also have opportunities to explore the park, learn new skills and dive deeper into individual projects.

Occasional Substitute Preschool Teacher

  • Title: Substitute Teacher
  • Reports to: Preschool Director and Assistant Preschool Director
  • Status: Occasional, part-time
  • Classification: Non-exempt
  • Term: School year (mid-August through May) – with opportunities for summer employment

Position Summary: Hartley Nature Preschool is seeking occasional substitute preschool teachers to support the preschool’s mission of inspiring life-long connections with nature through education, play, and exploration while supporting the whole child’s development and preparing children for school. Hartley Nature Preschool operates as a program of Hartley Nature Center, a non-profit environmental learning center located within the 600+ acre Hartley Park in Duluth, Minnesota.

Position Details:

  • Occasional part-time
  • Wage: Starting at $16/hour
